Why it happens
Whatever the previous occupant did or did not do, an empty property exposes everything — behind appliances, under where furniture stood, and inside every cupboard.
What to do about it
Use the empty window for the jobs that need it.
- Do floors and carpets now, while there is nothing to move
- Clean inside every cupboard, wardrobe and drawer before anything goes in
- Degrease the oven, extractor and behind the appliances
- Descale the bathroom fully — it is faster in an empty property
- Wipe walls, skirtings, frames and switch plates throughout
- Ventilate hard for a day; empty properties hold odour more than you expect
The mistake to avoid
Do not move in first and plan to clean around your belongings. The same job takes roughly twice as long and gets done half as well.
How we handle it
A deep clean is the reset your home needs — every corner, every skirting, every fitting cleaned by hand. Perfect for pre-move-in, post-illness, once-a-year spring cleans, or when the last cleaner just wasn't up to it.
- Micro-fibre and steam on hard surfaces
- Enzyme cleaners in kitchens
- Descaler on chrome and glass
- Wood-safe pH-neutral floor solution
- HEPA extraction on soft furnishings
