Why it happens
Fit-out dust settles for days after the last trade leaves, and stock delivery brings its own packaging debris. Cleaning once, too early, guarantees a dusty launch.
What to do about it
Plan two passes into the programme from the start.
- Pass one immediately after fitters finish: bulk dust, protection, residue and adhesive
- Glass, shopfront and light fittings on the first pass, then again at the end
- Fixtures and shelving cleaned before stock goes anywhere near them
- Stockroom and back-of-house included — inspections and staff both notice
- Pass two after merchandising, focused on floors, glass and touch points
- Confirm a hard finish time the day before launch, with contingency
The mistake to avoid
Do not schedule a single clean before merchandising. Stocking a unit generates debris and handprints on everything you just cleaned.
How we handle it
Construction dust gets into everything and standard cleaning doesn't touch it. We do proper after-builders cleans: paint spots removed, dust lifted from every surface, and the property handed back genuinely liveable.
- HEPA vacuum on plaster dust
- Solvent on paint splashes
- Micro-fibre wet-wipe pass over every horizontal surface
- Grout wash on new tiling
