Cleaning between short-let guests

A short-let changeover is a deadline with a clean attached. The work is closer to end of tenancy than to housekeeping, and it has to fit into the gap between check-out and check-in without exception.

Cleaning between short-let guests

Why it happens

Reviews are lost on a small, predictable set of things: bathroom detail, bed linen, kitchen smells and anything a previous guest left behind. Those are the items a rushed turnaround drops first.

What to do about it

Build the turnaround as a fixed sequence with a hard finish time.

  • Strip and reset beds first so laundry timing never becomes the bottleneck
  • Bathrooms get the most time — descaled, sanitised and dried, not just wiped
  • Check every drawer, wardrobe and under every bed for left items
  • Deal with kitchen odour sources: bin, fridge, sink waste and hob
  • Reset consumables and presentation last, so nothing is disturbed afterwards
  • Photograph the finished property as your record against damage claims

The mistake to avoid

Do not schedule a changeover with no buffer. One late check-out with no slack turns into a bad review that stays on the listing.

How we handle it

Our end of tenancy cleans are built around the inventory checklist letting agents and landlords actually use. We work top-to-bottom, room-by-room, so the property is handed over in re-let condition — every appliance degreased, every skirting wiped, every carpet vacuumed.

  • Alkaline degreasers on ovens and extractors
  • Acid limescale removers on sanitaryware
  • Steam on grout and silicone
  • Neutral pH on wood and laminate
  • HEPA vacuums for skirtings and radiator backs

Questions people ask

Can you work to a fixed turnaround window?

Yes. Tell us the check-out and check-in times and we plan crew size to fit the gap.

Do you handle linen?

We can work around your linen arrangement — tell us how it is supplied and we build it into the sequence.

Do you cover back-to-back bookings?

Yes, and we scale the crew rather than the hours so the deadline holds.
